Biography
My father, who died in 1976 - as far as I know, he did not serve in any capacity. The details are a little murky, but he was either in a protected occupation ( butcher ) or ( family legend had it ) he actively avoided induction, as did at least one of his brothers, who were Walter and Alan, both of whom are also deceased.
