Thomas Kinsela Brennan was the son of William Charles Brennan, the Postmaster at Port Lincoln, South Australia and Katherine Nugent. Born on 5 May 1897, he joined the staff of the Bank of Australasia, Melbourne prior to 1928 in which year he returned to Adelaide to marry Eleanor Mary Augusta Harvey.
His elder brother, 63941 Gunner John Francis Brennan, had served with 55 Field Artillery Battery in World War 1.
Thomas resigned from the Bank of Australasia and, at the age of 44, enlisted in the Citizen Military Forces at Mary Street, Sydney on 14 August 1941. With a need for former bank officers Thomas was immediately taken on strength of the Australian Army Pay Corps with the rank of corporal. Thomas was appointed a Staff Sergeant in 1943 and eventually Warrant Officer Class II. After the hostilities had come to an end he was promoted to Acting Warrant Officer Class 1 while working in the Eastern Command District Accounts Office.
Thomas was discharged on 4 December 1946 but continued to work for the Department of the Army as a civilian employee until 12 November 1948. Thomas died on 11 March 1962 and is interred in the Macquarie Park Cemetery and Crematorium, North Ryde Cemetery, Sydney.
