The details provided are taken from the book "1000 Men at War" the history of the 2nd/16th Infantry Battalion, published 1959, refer to page 237. John was born 7th July 1914, and prior to the war he was a horse breaker of Manly NSW. He enlisted into the AIF in NSW hence the NX regimental number, and later was transferred into the 2nd/16th Inf Bn where he served as a Corporal. Unfortunately, he was Killed In Action 5th July 1945.
