He served as a Lieutenant 42nd Infantry Battalion in WWI and in WWII he was a Lieutenant [N60083] in HQ Eastern Command.

Awarded - Member of the British Empire (C) (MBE) for Service to returned soldiers.

He was the son of George Grant Clinton Hanlon [1854–1936]  and Ellen Susan  Hanlon, nee Sherrin [1860–1952]
