Private Eldred Neville Quine (Service No:Q28018) enlisted in the ACMF on 23 August 1940, serving with 61st Infantry Battalion AMF (QLD Cameron Highlanders) in New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. Private Quine was Discharged on 15 January 1946. Older brothers - Harold Stanley (Corporal; Service No:QX19512) and Aubrey Howard (Corporal; Service Nos:QX28008/Q144106) also served in WWII.
Born in 1918 in Darwin NT, Neville was the youngest of four children of Stanley Tynald Quine (b1882 in QLD) and Florence Jane Deans (b1892 in QLD). Stanley (a Blacksmith with the Railways) and Florence married in 1909 in Cloncurry, QLD and lived in Ravensthorpe, Charleville and the Northern Territory before settling in Brisbane in the 1920s, where Stanley was a Labourer.
Neville was a Labourer in Brisbane before enlisting in the Army. In 1948 he married Joyce Duckworth (b1926 in Lancashire, England) - Joyce arrived in Brisbane QLD in 1927 with her parents on board the Themistocles. Neville and Joyce settled in Brisbane where Neville was a Labourer before moving to Tingalpa in the early 1950s, where Neville was a Truck Driver. Neville died in 1997 and Joyce in 1998.
