Corporal Aubrey Howard Quine (Service No:QX28008) enlisted in the Army on 13 February 1942 as a Private attached to 7 Training Battalion before transferring to 7 Pioneer Coy. Sapper Howard served in New Guinea with 6 Docks (11 April 1943 - 19 March 1944) and Bougainville (25 September 1944 - 3 January 1946). Corporal Howard transferred to 58 Field Park Coy on 19 December 1945 and was attached to 6 Port Operating Coy at Discharge on 15 January 1946.

Born in 1916 in Pine Creek in the Northern Territory, Aubrey was the third of four children of Stanley Tynwald Quine (b1882 in Brisbane, QLD) and Florence Jane Deans (b1892 in Cloncurry, QLD). Stanley (a Blacksmith with the Railways) and Florence married in Cloncurry in 1909 and lived in Charleville where Stanley was a Railways Guard before settling in Brisbane in the 1920s. Stanley worked as a Labourer in Brisbane. 

Aubrey worked as a Labourer in Brisbane and in 1934 married Rose May Benzie (b1913 in Brisbane, QLD). Aubrey and Rose were living in Banana QLD in 1941 where Aubrey was a Labourer and by 1942 when he enlisted in the Army, the couple were living in Brisbane and Aubrey was working as a Shop Assistant. Following his Discharge, Aubrey and Rose settled in Brisbane where Aubrey was a Labourer - Aubrey died in 1995 and Rose in 1998.
