Our father
Fred Smalpage was the beloved father of Ronald, Peter, Wendy and Toni. Our father died too early at the age of 67 years. He is characterised as a loving family man who embraced life with both hands. In the end he struggled with the fast rate the world was changing.
Dorothy, his second wife, was a loving and committed women, who provided him with the nurturing that a returned soldier needed, sticking with him through thick and thin.
He never talked much about the four years he spent as a Rat of Tobruk, with his family, but celebrated Anzac Day in a solemn and respectful manner, always remembering his fellow man.
We will always remember him as a loving and charming man.
