Son of Harry Lionel and Ellen Alice SANDERY of 23 Sandery Street, Solomontown, SA.  Educated at Solomontown School, Port Pirie he was employed at the Mt. Isa Mines, Queensland.  Enlisted in June 1940 saw service in Crete and Syria.  His father served in the Great War.
