Biography

Edmund (Ted ) Gabriel's enlistment interview was in Sydney Nov 1939. Commencement of training January 6 1940 no. 4 E.F.T.S Mascot. Date of Commission was 4th may 1940. Aircraft flown : Tiger Moth (civil flying) D.H. Moth Hawker Demon Afro Anson Lockheed Hudson Douglas Dakota C47 Qualified in navigation and reconnaissance, astro navigation and parachute officers course Attached to 13 SQN and 1 SQN Taken prisoner by the Japanese 1942 to 1945 Ted married Adella and raised 2 children, Ted was a passionate ameteaur radio enthusiast and photographer. Ted flew for Qantas Empire Airways for a period and then worked for Emergancy Services. He also received the National Medal for diligent long service to the community in hazardous circumstances.
