Great Sydney Central Station Honour Board

David HARRISON, (Service Number 6317) was born on 21 March 1891 near Tenterfield. He had joined the NSW Railways as a cleaner at Armidale locomotive depot in 1913, and by October 1916, when he joined the Expeditionary Forces, he had progressed to be a fireman.

David HARRISON (Service Number 6317) was born on 21st March 1891 near Tenterfield. He had joined the NSW Railways as a cleaner at Armidale locomotive depot in 1913. By October 1916, when he joined the Expeditionary Forces, he had progressed to be a fireman.

He left Sydney on 11th November on HMAT ‘Suevic’ and arrived in Devonport, UK, in January 1917

He was killed in action in France on 3rd October 1918 and was buried east of Jourcourt the same day. After the war, in the rationalisation of cemeteries his remains were exhumed and re-interred in the Bellicourt British Cemetery, 7½ miles NNW of St. Quentin.
