William Gordon Christie was the only son of Elizabeth and William Neil Christie.
William was known to everyone as Bill.
Bill was born on 5 September 1928, Paddington, N.S.W. He grew up and was educated in Tumbarumba.
Moved to Yass, N.S.W, where he worked at the Post Office as a postal clerk.
He married Alice White on 29 September 1948.
In 1951 entered the Military Service and left for Korea on Christmas Day.
In July 1952, his wife gave birth to their daughter. They had two children who died at birth (stillborn and deceased shortly after birth).
It was later that month when Bill was shot in the back whilst on patrol and killed.
His mother never got over the loss of her son.
His daughter never knew her real father or what sort of person he was. His sister Valeriw and Shirley spoke occasionally of him. His mother's love for him was great. She missed him till the day she died in 1983.
May he rest in peace.
