Add my storyBiography contributed by Maurice Kissane
Terence Joseph Flanagan was born in Bowerville in NSW in 1931. His father Joseph was then 36 and his mother Margaret was 30. The Flanagan's were a catholic family of five with an Irish name. Terry had two brothers but one died in infancy. His parents sadly were destined to survive two of their three sons who had predeceased them. His father lived until 1975 but his mother died in 1955.
Terry was nineteen when he enlisted to fight in Korea. He was in school during WWII but Korea would be his generation's war. Terry had completed 209 days war service before he was KIA in the Battle of Kapyong.
His UNMCK Burial Report indicates that it took two months before his remains were found, identified and buried. There were 25 allied remains recovered in the vicinity. This idicates the ferocity of their final battle.
Lest We Forget.
