Cyril Alfred William ALDERTON was born in London, England on 14th March, 1907

His parents were William ALDERTON & Eleanor CHARVET

He married Helen CRAM in Victoria in 1938

Cyril enlisted in Watsonia, Victoria on 4rd March, 1943 and was with the 6th Company of the 3rd Australian Army Service Corp

He died of injuries when a bus carrying Australian Army personnel from Bonegilla to Albury for a Saturday night recreation leave, was hit by steam locomotive A2863 at the level crossing on the Tallangatta Road to Wodonga.  

The driver, twenty three servicemen and a member of the Australian Army Medical Womens Service were killed.  Nine other service people were injuried - This tragic accident was Australias worst rail road smash at the time

He is buried in Albury War Cemetery, Plot F, Row C, Grave 5
