'For marked gallantry and fine leadership during the period 16 September 1918 to 11 November 1918. During the attack on the Hindenburg Line, and on previous occasions at Villers-Bretonneux and Hamel, he had charge of his platoon and has always performed his duties in a most praiseworthy manner.'
