Flight Sergeant Arthur Gordon Herbert Arnot 402840 was killed in the loss of Westland Lysander V9798 of Number 1488 Flight RAF - also killed was LAC Michael Summers 1253702 RAF with both men buried in Maldon Cemetery, England 

He was laid to rest in the Service Plot at Maldon Cemetery, Row 61. Grave 95, and the inscription chosen by his family reads:

"A GLORIOUS COMPANY TO SERVE AS MODEL TO THE MIGHTY WORLD"
