Corporal Richard Arthur Ashfield 19098 of 450SQN was killed by shrapnel during a Luftwaffe attack on Gambut Aerodrome, Libya
His death is referred to in "Memoirs of 450 (RAAF) SQN" by Leonard Barton & “RAAF Ground Staff of the Desert Air Force Squadrons” by E.S. Johnston
