Horace Reiby Elliott ATKINSON was born on 11th December, 1905 in Southport, Queensland
His parents were James Percival ATKINSON & Margaret Louise ELLIOTT who had married on 20th October 1897 in St Pauls Church, Ipswich - his father James died in 1936 in Queensland
He enlisted in Richmond, NSW on 13th November, 1939 with the Royal Australian Air Force - his posting at his death was 1 Engineering School, Ascot Vale in Victoria
Horace collapsed & died at work at the No. 1 RAAF Engineering Schol at the Showground on 31st May, 1940
He is buried in Williamstown General Cemetery & also commemorated at the Australian War Memorial & listed in The Australian Book of Remembrance in the ACT (Commonwealth War Graves)
