The aircraft was hit by flak in the port inner engine and in the navigator's compartment. The port wing tip was blow off and half the wing shattered and the port tail plane was also hit. Your son was killed by a burst of flak through his compartment and was unable to leave the aircraft. The aircraft then crashed in flames.
