'Sid Banfield (b.1899) donated a clock to the school in memory of his son, Ken Banfield (b. 1925-03-04), who enlisted in World War II as soon as he gained his Leaving Certificate. Ken joined the RAAF becoming a Flight Sergeant receiving his wing from King George VI. He was killed in an aircraft accident in England. His Oxford Bomber hit power lines whilst attempting to land on a road on a foggy night in April 1945. He was only 20 years old. The clock is in the Jeffries-Currey Memorial Library.'
