Charles Barclay
Charles was my Grandfather and his only daughter was Aileen Beverely Barclay. She never got over the death of her much loved father, and her lasting memory of him throughout her long life was waving goodbye to him at Spencer Street Railway station.
She never talked about the sinking, or the struggles afterwards to manage financially.
Charles had an Uncle Pte Roy Lemon who was killed at Gallipoli in 1915, and his service would have encouraged Charles to join and do his bit, eevn at the age of 33.
