Son of Charles Russell Barker and Julia Mary Barker, of Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia.
HE GLADLY DIED THAT WE MIGHT ENJOY PEACE
CPL. CHARLES RUSSELL BARKER, killed in action on May 27, was 23, and lived at Traralgon. He was in the 37th Battalion Militia before enlistment. He served in Palestine, Egypt, Libya and Greece. Born in Dandenong, Cpl. Barker was a well-known footballer in the Cowwarr and District Football Association, and took an interest in swimming, cricket and scouting.
