Rex Francis Strangman BEALE was born in Mosman, Sydney on 4th November, 1900

His parents were Reginald Hugo BEALE & Violet Frances COYLE

He married Leila Tasma DAVIES on 17th August, 1925 at St Johns Cathedral in Brisbane - they divorced in 1934 - one known child Rex

His 2nd marriage was to Alrema SAMUELS nee BECKE in Manly, Sydney on 9th April, 1936 - not known if they had any children

He enlisted on 4th April, 1940 in South Melbourne with the Australian Army and was a Major in the Australian Staff Corp and the 22nd Australian Infantry Brigade

He died on 13th February, 1942 in the Alexandra Hospital in Singapore after being involved in a prisoner of war massacre in Malaya

His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial, The Singapore Memorial Column 117 and the Prisoner of War Memorial in Ballarat, Victoria

His son Rex Anthony Strangman BEALE  (SN 171347) also served in WW2 in the Royal Australian Air Force and was discharged in 1946
