BEESLEY, Stephen Neville. Staff Sergeant N76383, A.C.M.F., Australian Army Pay Corps. He was born in Macclesfield on the 30th December 1883, and he drowned in the surf at Bondi, Sydney, New South Wales on the 2nd February 1942 aged 58 and he was laid to rest at Rookwood Cemetery, New South Wales. He was the son of Stephen and Ada Beesley of Macclesfield and he was the husband of Margaret Beesley, of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. In 1901 he was living with his parents at 35, Chester Road, Macclesfield, Cheshire, his occupation a bank clerk. On the 20th February 1915 he departed England from London on ship, Morea bound for Sydney, Australia, his final destination was Colombo, Ceylon. He was aged 31, single and a bank clerk. (Wills and Admin, Ancestry). He lived at 5, Military Road, Dover Heights, and died at Bondi, both in New South Wales, Australia . He was laid to rest in Rookwood Cemetery, Sydney, New South Wales. At some stage his body was exhumed, cremated and returned to England. On the 8th October 1949 his ashes were interred in the Beesley family grave at Macclesfield Cemetery, Cheshire.
