Thomas Desmond BERNDT was born in Maryborough in Queensland on 26th May, 1922
His parents were William Bernard BERNDT & Mary Elizabeth TIERNEY who married in Queensland on 17th June 1918

His brother William Bernard BERNDT (SN QX56896 (SN Q102175) served in the Army during WW2 and was discharged on 25th October, 1945 - Corporal with 133 General Transport Company

LAC Berndt 426773 and LAC Hempenstall 426590 from 5EFTS were the pilots of Tiger Moth aircraft A17-113 & A17-472 which were involved in a mid-air collision approximately 3 miles north east of Narromine Aerodrome in NSW - both men were killed, no other crew onboard.
