Remembering Flight Sargeant Albert Norman James Billing
Our story of Albert Norman James Billing is submitted not only as a tribute to our cousin (x2 removed) but also as a tribute for the love and affection our maternal grandmother, Lillian Maude Bruce (Billing), his Aunt Lily, had for Bertie during her lifetime. We sincerely hope he will be fondly remembered for his service and supreme sacrifice as an allied airman during the WW2 conflict while serving far from home.
Although gone he is not forgotten and will be long remembered by both my sister and I through the constant love and affection borne for him by our maternal grandmother, his Aunt Lily along with his father, her brother and our much loved granduncle, Norman Silas Billing.
During her lifetime our grandmother with much pride often shared her precious memories of her favourite nephew and along with his father together with all the Billing family especially his sisters Pat and Valda and his brother Bill, hoping above hope that perhaps Bertie had somehow survived despite having received the sad news of his missing and/or believed killed in action on his last sortie in Kiel Germany on 26 August 1944.
On behalf of his Aunt Lily, our much loved grandmother and with respect to all members of the Billing family especially with much love for our beloved granduncle Norman, his father, a heartfelt thank you is extended to Bertie and his fellow crew members for all their efforts and supreme sacrifice made by them during World War II. May you all continue to Rest in Peace.
