Lancaster PB816 of Number 460 Squadron crashed near Spielbach, Germany with only one survivor: Flight Sergeant Alan Webster Halls 429151 who became a POW after baling out.

RAF Sergeant AJ MacDonald along with Flight Sergeant Milton Keith Jurd 435564 / Flight Sergeant James William Prouse 431468 / Flight Sergeant Kenneth William Binder 431194 / Flight Sergeant Morgan James Parry 428877 were all killed outright.

Flying Officer Vernon James Hedley 409303 was shot while evading capture after baling out.  Details of his death are covered in the book "Footprints on the Sands of Time" by Oliver Clutton-Brock
