BIRCH.-In proud and loving remembrance of our dear Son and Brother, Flight Sergeant Eric Eyles Birch (Wireless Operator), and the other members of the crew of the Lancaster bomber which was lost in air operations over Essen, Germany, on 25th October, 1944.
He was not spared to share the peace
Of the country he helped to save;
But we remember him as a hero
And treasure the life he gave.
