Sylvenus Bruce BLACKBURN was born in Coonabarabran on 24th December, 1887

His parents were John BLACKBURN & Margaret CRESSWELL who married in Coonabarabran on 28th March, 1864

He married Mary Ann ANNESLEY in 1916 (registered in Portland)

He enlisted in Adamstown, NSW on 6th January, 1942 with the 8th Garrison Battalion

Sylvenus sustained head injuries when he was hit by a car opposite Adamstown Post Office on 4th April, 1942 - he is buried in the Coonabarabran Cemetery and his name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial
