Private Robert Alfred Bradford (Service No:QX5988) enlisted in the Army on 8 June 1940 and served with 2nd/9th Infantry Battalion in the Middle East, Greece and New Guinea. Private Bradford was KiA at Buna on 18 December 1942. Three of his brothers and a sister also served in WWII.
Born in 1913 at Tannymorel, Killarney on the Darling Downs in QLD, Bob was the third of nine children of Alfred Ernest Bradford (b1884 at Farm Creek, Tannymorel, QLD) and Nellie Maud Francis (b1884 in Warwick, QLD). Alfred Snr (a Farmer) and Nellie married in 1909 at Tannymorel where they settled and raised their family and Alfred was a Farmer.
Bob was a Timber Faller at Mt Collier nr Killarney when he enlisted in the AIF.
