OUR DEAR SON DIED THAT WE MAY LIVE. GOD'S WILL BE DONE
WILLIAM GEORGE BRADY enlisted in October 1942 when 18 years of age, from the Union Bank at Cohuna. He was educated at St. Patrick's College Ballarat. He was trained at Shepparton, Somers, Benalla (Vic.) and Deniliquin (N.S.W.), obtaining his wings in November, 1943. He left for England in January 1944 and trained there and in Scotland and attained the rank of Flight Sergeant. Whilst engaged in anti-aircraft co-operation work off coast of Scotland on 13th February 1945, his plane, a Hurricane, atter entering a storm cloud at some 7000 feet appeared to get out of control and crashed into the Firth of Forth where his body was recovered the next day at low ebb. He was buried with full Service, honours at the Corstorphine Hill Cemetery, Edin burgh, Scotland. Sgt. Terence Brady, another son served with the A.I.F. in the Middle East.
Mr. and Mrs, J. F. Brady, of Echuca, have been officially notified that their son, M./Sgt. William George Brady, is missing, and believed to have lost his life on a non-operational flight in Scotland, when the aircraft in which he was flying crashed. The missing officer's brother, Sgt,-Pilot Maxwell Brady, lost this life three years ago when on a flight between Gibraltar and Malta.
Following upon the loss of their son, Sgt. Pilot Maxwell Brady, who was declared missing on January 16, 1942, when flying between Gibraltar and Malta and later presumed dead, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Brady, of Echuca, have now received word that their son, Flight- Sergeant William George Brady, is missing and believed to have lost his life. Known details are that he was pilot of Hurrican aircraft which crashed in Firth of Forth, Scotland, whilst engaged on a non-operational anti-aircraft co-operation flight on February 13. Once again the sympathy of all Echuca people will be with Mr. and Mrs. Brady in their second period of anxiety in this war. "Bill," as he was affectionttely known to his relatives and many friends, was in his twenty-first year.
