Add my storyBiography
Son of William PASCOE and Margaretha nee CALDWELL
Wilfred Pascoe was born, raised, educated and farmed on South Australia's Yorke Peninsula. He enlisted in August 1916 and was posted with the rank of Private as a stretcher bearer to the 32nd Infantry Battalion (SA/WA) 9th Reinforcement. He sailed from Port Adelaide aboard HMAT A73 Commonwealth on 21st September that year bound for the Western Front.
In July 1917 Pte Pascoe was part of the Allied offensive to the south and west of the Belgian medievil walled city of Ypres. He was seriously wounded whilst carrying an Australian casuality from the front line. He was repatriated to Australia, arriving on 10th September 1917.
Wilfred was dischaged from the Army and returned to farming near Edithburgh SA, where he married and raised 2 sons and a daughter. He was active in the local community, particularly as a Lay Methodist preacher until his death in 1976.
