PTE. N. BROOKS
As briefly reported in a recent issue, news has been received that Pte. Norman Brooks, A.I.F., of 5 McKenzie street, Leichhardt was accidentlly killed on Anzac Day, April 25th.
Norman was the son of Mrs. Ethel Brooks and the late Frank Brooks, of 94 Wilga St., Corrimal, who are well known and highly respected in the district.
He was born at Corrimal and attended the local public school. He married Thelma Johnson, daughter of the well known family, who carried on business in Corrimal for a long time. He was a very likeable chap and was associated with many social and sporting bodies in the district. He joined the A.I.F. in the A.A.M.C. and prior to his enlistment was engaged on the Woronora Dam, where he gained many friends by his cheerfulness and ever ready response to help anyone who needed the services of a friend. He has two brothers, Edgar, engaged on essential work, and Jack serving with the Forces.
His death came as a great shock to his many friends and to his widow, infant son Frank, his mother and relatives sincere sympathy is extended.
