His younger brothers both lost their lives during WW1, 1709 Pte. Edmund Thomas Bryan 6th Battalion AIF was killed in action at Gallipoli 24 June 1915, age 21 and 1128 Tpr. Edward John Bryan 8th Australian Light Horse, died of malaria in Egypt 26 August 1918, aged 25.
