AB Seaman Max Buckland, 19 years of H.M.A.S. Australia died of wounds as a result of enemy action at Leyte on October 20. He attended Lee Street Training School, North Carlton, and worked at Carlton Post Office. He was a member of C.E.B.S. and St. Luke's Church of England, North Fitzroy.
