Son of Wesley Austin Burgess and Vera Maggie Burgess; husband of Florence Burgess, of Randwick.

Colin enjoyed Tennis and Swimming.

Colin served in the RAAF for almost 6 years, joining as a photographer in April 1940 and sailed with 3 Squadron to the Middle East leaving Sydney in July 1940.  After returning to Australia he remustered to air crew and served in various RAAF places including Naromine and Mallala.

He was a photographer with the RAAF for 3 years and 3 months.
