Warrant-Officer Norman J. Burns, only son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Burns, of 'Myola,' Merah North, Wee Waa, who was killed in an aircraft accident in North Queensland recently. Warrant-Officer Burns, who was an ex-student of De La Salle College, Armidale, enlisted in the RAAF in April, 1942, and, after training, had six months' service in New Guinea. He returned to Australia in March this year, and was appointed instructor at Mt. Gambier, South Australia. Two months ago he was promoted to Warrant
Officer and transferred to Townsville.

Flying Officer Ronald McTier 428344 & Warrant Officer Norman John Burns 422019 from Number 5 Communication Unit RAAF Garbutt were killed at Mareeba airfield when 5SQN Wirraway A20-517 swung to port after landing and struck them.
