William David CAIRNCROSS was born in Rockdale in Sydney, NSW in 1918
His parents were Frederick George CAIRNCROSS & Lexie Dora SELBY who married in the Congregational Church in Kogarah, Sydneyon 16th December, 1918 - they divorced in 1924
On his war record he stated he was born in Scotland in 1911 which is incorrect - he served under the name of Donald Kirk CAMPBELL
He stated he married a lady called Grace CAMPBELL but this marriage date or place has not been found
He suffered an accidental bayonet wound which happened on 24th December, 1939 at the Liverpool Camp in NSW
He subsequently died in the Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick from those wounds on 25th January, 1940 (see links for further details of his accidental wounding)

His brother Francis James CAIRNCROSS (SN 21620) served during WW2 in the Royal Australian Navy (HMAS Penquin) and was discharged on 25th September, 1942
