Eggleton, George Edward, born in Sussex, England and later moved to Australia to begin his life as an everyday dairyman in a quiet city called Adelaide. He spent most of his life before going to war in Fulham, located in South Australia. During this time, he developed his skills as a dairyman on farms and fields.
As news grew about World War I, Eggleton wanted to enlist to the challenge and help his country. Working as a dairyman was quite lonely, considering that Eggleton was single and not in a relationship which was another reason why he enlisted. Being a dairyman meant that many difficult challenges arose on the battlefield. Eggleton wasn't equipped with having characteristics like an active soldier, which resulted in many trips to the hospital.
Eggleton served in the 27th Battalion, 11th Reinforcement, and boarded the HMAT A9 Shropshire on 25 March 1916.
He devoted his time and life to the war which he started from a dairyman to a soldier. His commitment was seen throughout the war for nearly 4 years, Eggleton was later discharged due to being demobilized.
