Son of John Joseph and Emily CARLEY nee SHORT; grandson of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. SHORT, of Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England.

Arrived in Australia on S.S. Largs Bay in 1939.
Occupation Clerk for a Police Department and Farm Hand in Australia where he worked at Greenlands
Enlisted 12/6/1940.
Captured at the fall of Singapore 1942.
Died of illness but cause of illness not recorded.
Survived by brother Cyril Carley of Chesterfield and Michael Talbot(name changed when he was adopted by an aunt after parents died.)
