Warrant Officer Ian David Carnie 401492 RAAF and Flying Officer Edward Scott Murphy DFC 401171 RAAF were killed when Marauder PK363 of 14 Squadron RAF crashed at sea near Sardinia - their bodies were not recovered and they are commemorated on the Malta Memorial
Also killed were: Francis, Robin Keith DFC (Pilot Officer) RAF 141729 / Jellis, Sydney Gordon (Flight Sergeant) RAF 1188062 / Sloggett, Douglas William (Flight Sergeant) RAF 978473 / Miles, Richard George (Flight Sergeant) RNZAF 41925
