Son of John Riddle Carter and Margaret Phyllis Carter, of Casterton, Victoria, Australia.
HIS DUTY FEARLESSLY AND NOBLY DONE. EVER REMEMBERED
During daylight hours of 18th November, 1944, in Lancaster PB541, F/O Carter as captain and pilot, and his crew took off at 15.37 hrs to carry out a bombing attack on an enemy target at Wanne Nikel (Belgium). Unfortunately no further news was received concerning the fate of the aircraft or any members of the crew. Failed to return to base presumably due to enemy action.
