Son of Oswald and Ruth Carter; husband of Kylie Carter, of South Perth.

Aircraftman 1st class Carter, Electrical fitter was part of a Ground staff detachment being conveyed to repair aircraft at Carnarvon in a No.14 Squadron Beaufort A9-173 which was enroute from Geraldton to Carnarvon, W.A. on an anti-submarine patrol.
The aircraft flew into the crest of a hill (600 feet), located 2 miles east of Yetna, in overcast conditions

ACCIDENT IN WEST AUSTRALIA
In a plane crash which occurred on Monday in this State eight airmen were killed, five of them being West Australians.
The victims were: —
Pilot-Officer George Bishop (wireless air-gunner), of 69 Kentore Avenue, Prospect, South Australia.
Sergeant Donald Ashby Waite (pilot of the plane), of Goldie Street, Wynyard, Tasmania.
Sergeant Robert Ambrose Redman (observer), of 262 South Terrace, Adelaide, South Australia.
Sergeant Edward Watling (wireless air-gunner), Prospect Road, Armadale, Western Australia.
Sergeant Charles Vincent Patching (fitter), Pearce, Western Australia.
L.A.C. Herbert Spencer Kilpatrick (fitter), 218 Perth Road, Bassendean, Western Australia.
L.A.C. George Louis Pedrotta (flight mechanic), Wilkins Road, Bellevue, Western Australia.
A.C.1 Godfrey Carter (electrician), 4 Parker Street, South Perth, Western Australia.
A.C.1 Carter, of South Perth, is survived by his widow and twin sons (6).
From the announcing staff of 6PM. he was appointed to a similar position with the Australian Broadcasting Commission in May, 1939. Later he was made acting supervisor, an appointment which he held until he enlisted in the R.A.A.F. His brother, Bernard, who was an announcer for W.A. Broadcasters Ltd., is also serving in the R.A.A.F. Their father, Mr. O. Carter, of Perth, was formerly a paymaster captain in the Royal Navy.
