"THY WILL BE DONE"
A gloom was cast over the town early yesterday morning when word was passed around that Mrs. Alec Christie had received word from the War Office that her husband had been killed in England. Alec was a very popular Lieutenant in the 31st Battalion A.M.F. He was a most capable officer and well liked by his men. He resigned his commission in the Militia and enlisted in the Air Force, eventually going to Canada where be trained under the Empire Air Training Scheme, as a wireless gunner. With his practice of making a success of anything that he undertook in civil and military life, Alec came through his examinations in Canada at the topof the list and eventuall proceeded to England.
Approximately two weeks ago, his voice was heard from England in the session 'Anzacs Sneaking.' It is understood that he was Just recently promoted to Pilot Officer, in Englsnd. Born and bred in Ingham his parents (Mr. and Mrs. W. Christie) are well known and respected citizens, and the sympathy of the whole district will go out to his young sorrowing widow and also his parents.
Alec's brother, Lt Eric Christie was recently wounded at Tobruk and his youngest brother Keith at present holds a commission in the 31st Battalion Militia.
