Pilot Officer James Eric Covell 405833 and Flying Officer Maurice Samuel Thomas 2080 (272080) were killed when Tiger Moth A17-476 of Station Headquarters Townsville crashed between Townsville and Cairns, Queensland - their bodies were not recovered and they are commemorated on the Sydney Memorial
