Daniel Edward CREMIN was born in Sydney in 1917
His parents were Daniel Edward CREMIN & Ruby Violet FORBUTT who married in Sydney on 7th October, 1920
He enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force in 1936 & joined the RAF in 1938
Daniel married Patricia WHITEMORE in 1939 - one son Mark
He died when testing a new Spitfire VC (AB 462) at night and another Spitfire piloted by William Norman crashed into him at Frythens Farm, St Erth - both men lost their lives & the planes were destroyed
His remains were found 75 years after he died & reburied (see link for story)

FLYING CROSS FOR SYDNEY PILOT
Flight Lieutenant Daniel Edward Cremin, 24 of Redfern, Sydney, who is attached to the Royal Air Force has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for exceptional courage and keenness in discharge of his duty as a bomber pilot
The official citation states "that he has never failed to press home his attacks against the enemy, and has shown great determination, often in the face of heavy anti aircraft fire. He has participated in 70 sorties, often under trying conditions, and his cheerfulness has always inspired his squadron"
At present he is in a squadron attached to the Middle East Command.
He was trained at Point Cook and left for England in 1937 to join the R.A.F. under the R.A.A.F. trained cadet scheme
