Squadron Leader Alan Thomas Cridland 260424 of Number 1 Photo Reconnaissance Unit was killed in the loss of P38 Lockheed Lightning A55-2 which crashed 2 miles west of Livingstone airfield, NT while attempting a go around with a failed engine. (info from Baugher - built as USAAF aircraft 41-2159)
