Test flight of Number 5 Communications Unit Beaufort Mk V111 aircraft A9-733 - on entering the circuit area at RAAF Station Garbutt in Townsville the aircraft lost height rapidly, crashed and burst into flames. The aircraft was totally destroyed and all occupants were killed instantly:
