Son of James Francis and Elsie Mary Delahunty, of Murtoa, Victoria, Australia.

ETERNAL REST GRANT UNTO HIM, O LORD" FOREVER REMEMBERED

James was in a crew of Lancaster Mk 1 ME 853 which was engaged on bombing operations, the primary target geing Bois De Cassan.  Nothing was heard of the aircraft after leaving 467 (RAAF) Sqdn RAF Station, Waddington.

AUSTRALIA'S NEW HONOR ROLL

Mr and Mrs J. F. Delahunty, of "Rosscrea," Murtoa, have received word from the Air Board that their second son Flying Officer James Roderick Delahunty, R.A.A.F., who was previously reported missing  in air operations over Germany on 2nd August, 1944, was presumed to have been killed on that date. Flying Officer Delahunty, who was 22 years of age, was born at Murtoa. He was educated at the  Murtoa State and H.E. schools and at St. Patrick's College, Ballarat, and upon completing his education joined the staff of the Union Bank on which he served at Casterton and Rupanyup. He was a fine  type of young man and very popular. Sincere sympathy is extended to his parents, brothers Maurice, Gavan, Jack, and sisters Moira (Mrs Philip Nolan, Bothwell Tasmania), and Mar-cia, in their sad loss.
