Charles Digges received his Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) for a bombing attack on an enemy tanker off BLANKENBERGE, the west coast of Flanders, July 1941. He was the first officer from the Empire Air Training Scheme serving the United Kingdom to receive a military decoration.
Charles Digges died on 18 December 1941 as a member of the crew of a Hudson bomber that crashed to the ground near the RAF Oulton Air Base, Norfolk, England.
