Norris William Parry DIKE was born on 9th November, 1891 in Hawthorn, Victoria
His parents were Henry Hoare DIKE and Emma Jane DANIELS
Norris had previous service of 1 year 9 months in the 1st Battalion Victorian Regiment and 8 years 6 months in the Royal Australian Artillery & 5 years & 6 months in the Instructional Staff before he enlisted in Melbourne on 16th August, 1917 with the Australian Army - he was with the 22nd Battalion, 20th reinforcements - Unit embarked from Melbourne on board HMAT Nestor on 21st November, 1917
He was awarded the British War Medal & The Victory Medal
He returned to Australia on 18th January, 1919 on the ship Ulysses & then married Annie May BANFIELD in 1919 in Victoria
Norris also served in WW2 in the Citizens Military Forces - he was living in Elsternwick, Victoria & enlisted in Caulfield on 31st May, 1940 - he was with the 2/2 Pioneer Battalion
He died of Illness in Sydney on 5th September, 1941 and was taken to Melbourne for his funeral service and buried at Melbourne General Cemetery. He is also commemorated at the Australian War Memorial
